On January 23rd, NPR’s All Things Considered did a segment titled Hollywood’s Computers: Telling A Story In A Flash. While it didn’t go into great detail, it did provide the general public with an overview of the subject of screen design for motion pictures . . . something most people never stop to think about.

Recently, Gridiron Software (http://www NULL.gridironsoftware NULL.com/) officially launched Flow (http://www NULL.gridironsoftware NULL.com/products/flow NULL.html) – a visual workflow manager.
So why am I excited about this new app? First of all – because it is freakin’ cool. Originally designed as a workflow organization tool for motion graphics, once people got a glimpse of what this innovative application could do ??? everyone wanted to use it. Because of this, the app was revamped to include workflows for many more disciplines – from design and illustration, to web and video.

Ok – let’s be more specific. It’s nice that some people have heard the term ‘motion graphics’
For those of us who are forever explaining what we do – it’s nice when it starts to enter the mainstream.

Autodesk acquisition of softimage completed

Autodesk’s acquisition of Softimage is now complete. Formerly owned by Avid, Softimage will provide Autodesk users more complete and efficient games, film and television pipelines. Additionally, Autodesk is working on new, real-time interactive 3D technology for runtime applications.
