WonderHowTwo.com Firefox Video Side Bar

This is one of the coolest Firefox addons I have seen! The innovative website, WonderHowTo.com has come up with a sidebar widget that allows you to view all of the ‘how-to’ videos related to any given page. What a concept!

Ok, first – I must confess. I am a Safari user. I was a longtime Firefox user up until the latest release of Safari. I converted. Mostly because I enjoy the simplicity and elegance of the app.

Initially, I had some concerns with using Safari because I also do web-development in my business. Not having the Firefox Web Developer extension (by Chris Pederick) was a big deal for me. Without it, it would be difficult to get to the nuts-and-bolts of websites I develop. Then, I discovered that you can turn on developer tools in Safari. Simply by going to Safari > Preferences > Advanced. Select the ‘Show Develop menu in menu bar’ – and voila! Instant web development tools.

But when I saw the WonderHowTo.com video side bar extension for Firefox – I had to try it. I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and installed the addon. And then I surfed. First, I went to the motion08 website. As the producer of this conference, I know the content in-depth. So I click on the icon at the bottom of the web-browser ‘related How-To Videos’ and a side bar pops up and instantly displays all of the videos that are related to the content of the page I am viewing. And it was accurate!

From there, you can click on any of the thumbnails and you will be taken to the selected how-to on the WonderHowTo.com website. So sweet!

Kudos to the development team in creating such an awesome addon!
